New Homepage Coming to Info Exchange

Overview

On 22nd September at 5:00pm (UK), we will release a new Homepage for Info Exchange.

The new Homepage introduces:

  • A modernised look and feel
  • Responsive layouts for desktop, tablet and mobile devices
  • New Announcements functionality
  • New Useful Links functionality
  • Improved application navigation and shortcuts

This change will be deployed during a normal release window and no downtime is expected.

What do I need to do?

Standard Users

No action is required.

Following the release, users will see a "Preview our New Homepage" button on the current Homepage.

Administrators

  • Administrators may wish to:
  • Configure Announcements ahead of release
  • Configure Useful Links ahead of release
  • Arrange a Homepage image to be set up via Helpdesk
  • Review which users should be able to manage Homepage content

Key Information

New Functionality

The following functionality is new and does not exist on the current Homepage:

  • Announcements
  • Useful Links

These areas will not contain any content until configured by your organisation.

Existing Homepage Content

The current Homepage will remain available after release.

Other than applications, existing Homepage content will not automatically appear on the new Homepage.

This means:

  • Existing Homepage images will not be migrated
  • Announcements are new functionality and therefore have no existing content to migrate
  • Useful Links are new functionality and therefore have no existing content to migrate

If you wish to configure a Homepage image, Announcements, or Useful Links, you can do so before release.

Rollout Timeline

  • 22nd September: New Homepage released
  • Future date (Expected to be within next 2-4 weeks): New Homepage becomes the default Homepage
  • Early 2027: Existing Homepage retired and removed

Initially, users will continue to land on the current Homepage but will be able to access the new Homepage using the preview button.

At a later date, the new Homepage will become the default Homepage for all users.

Early Access

If you would like to access and configure the new Homepage before release, use:

Known Limitations

The following application types do not currently appear on the new Homepage:

  • External system links
  • SharePoint links
  • SSO application links

These remain accessible via the current Homepage.

These items will be addressed before retiring the current Homepage and are targeting delivery before the end of the year.

Homepage Layout

The new Homepage automatically adjusts to different screen sizes:

  • Large screens display up to 3 columns of applications
  • Medium screens display 2 columns
  • Mobile devices display a single column

Standard User View

Administrator View

Please note that access to the Administration application is now available from the button in the top-right corner of the Homepage. This button is only visible to users who have Administration application access.

All Apps

The Applications area provides access to:

  • Applications
  • Search
  • Reports
  • "Create New" shortcuts

Create New shortcuts

Where enabled, applications include a shortcut to create a new record.

By default, the shortcut links to the highest configured table within that application.

If you would like to change the default table used by a shortcut, the Helpdesk can assist.

Announcements

For End Users

Users can:

  • View announcements directly from the Homepage
  • Expand announcements to read the full content
  • View any images attached to announcements

For Administrators

Users with "can manage announcements" permission can:

  • Create announcements
  • Edit announcements
  • Schedule announcements using start and end dates
  • Add images
  • Add hyperlinks
  • Apply formatting
  • Reorder announcements using drag-and-drop

Managing Announcement Order

Administrators will see a drag handle on each announcement.

Dragging announcements into a new position changes the order displayed to all users.

Permissions

Announcement management permissions are assigned through the User page.

Only users who can manage user permissions can assign these rights to themselves or others.

Useful Links

For End Users

Users can access Useful Links configured by administrators.

Please note that Useful Links are visible to all users and are not permission-controlled.

For Administrators

Users with “can manage useful links” permission can:

  • Add links
  • Edit links
  • Remove links
  • Select icons

To configure a link:

  1. Select an icon
  2. Enter the display text
  3. Enter the destination URL
  4. Save your changes

Email Links

Email addresses can be added using:

mailto:example@domain.com

Permissions

Useful Link management permissions are assigned through the User page.

Only users who can manage user permissions can assign these rights to themselves or others.

Homepage Images

The new Homepage uses a different image configuration from the current Homepage.

Images configured on the current Homepage will not automatically appear on the new Homepage.

If you would like an image configured before release, please contact Helpdesk.

Supported Formats:

  • PNG
  • JPG
  • JPEG
  • GIF

Recommended Dimensions:

  • 300px x 250px

Release Day Information

Users who are logged in when the release occurs may need to refresh their browser before the Preview our New Homepage button becomes visible.

No other user action is required.
