Info Exchange - April 2025
Updated single select lookup component
Week commencing 21st April, we will be releasing an improved single select lookup component. The behaviour and design will change, we've summarised what you need to know so that you can tell your users.
Something is changing!
We are making some changes to how Info Exchange looks and feels, starting with the single select lookup component. The updated component looks newer and has some updated functionality to make it easier for users – searching within the field is easier and there is less waiting for the field to load.
Current design

Current behaviour
To use the current field, you click on the ellipses, wait for the postback/loading bar to complete, then the popover box appears for you to make your selection.
You can search within the search box (if enabled), pressing enter to refine the results.
Once you’ve selected, the popover box closes, with postback/loading bar..

New design

New behaviour
No popover box, type to search, no need to press enter.
No postback/loading bar to show the field, the field only postbacks/shows loading bar after selection if there is conditional logic that uses this field

Where a lookup has more than one column, the new format will be applied and the columns will appear as one text value with hyphens separating the columns.
Top right screenshot shows current format of multi-column lookup, bottom right screenshot shows new format of multi-column lookup

Once launched, if there are any multi-column fields which need to be swapped back to the old format, you can contact Helpdesk infoexchange.helpdesk@ecoonline.com, including the specific field name and table name so that we can change it back. Please note that the benefits of the new component (e.g. reduced visibility of loading bar, type to search) are not available for a given field if it is using the old component.
There are some contexts where the new design won’t apply, automatic period/month selection objects (e.g. this may appear to your users as a Site lookup on an Incident record – it allows your Incident to be connected to a site, through the correct month or period record, depending on the date and time selected), lookup lists with over 1000 options, inline lookups (please see right)

As part of this change, the font and size of font is changing slightly too, we’ll continue to work on releasing updates to further fields so that we get to a consistent and modern look and feel, with reduced postbacks/loading bar.
Future updates
We are continuing to work on updating these components, watch this space for a higher upper limit on number of lookup options, for multi-column support and for the same look and feel extended to the multi-select lookup and automatic month/period selection object.
Questions
Q - When is this scheduled for release?
A - Week commencing 21st April, after 5pm
Q - What do I do if I experience issues after release or I want to change specific fields back to the previous version of the single select component?
A - Please raise a ticket to Helpdesk [infoexchange.helpdesk@ecoonline.com] who can triage any post-release issues or revert lookups to the previous version of the single select component. If making a request to change a field, please ensure you include the field name and the name of the table or form – this will help Helpdesk complete your request without needing to ask for more detail.
Q - What about the old UI?
A - This change will not take effect in the old UI as it is no longer supported – it’s free to move to the current UI and take advantage of the cleaner look and feel. Please email Product Comms [infoexchangeproductcomms@ecoonline.com] if you’d like to retire your old UI.
Q - How do I know I’m on the old UI?
A - The current UI looks like the below screenshot. Though the colours and content will be different for your exchange, if you see something completely different in your applications, you may be on the old UI.
(Below - screenshot of current UI, colours and content will differ per Exchange)
