Our Sustainability Strategy

EcoOnline’s sustainability strategy was founded upon the most significant environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics for our business operations, based on the materiality analysis we undertook in 2022. This assessment has governed our areas of ESG focus for the past few years, tracking the factors which mattered most for our principal stakeholders.

The most material factors for our strategy include climate change mitigation (energy and emissions), waste management, equality and diversity, cybersecurity and business ethics. We updated our materiality analysis in 2024, and the results of that review can be seen here.

Our board of directors and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) endorse our ESG strategy, approving our commitments and the specific initiatives which are designed to deliver our intended outcomes. These outcomes, and our ESG strategy, reflect the material aspects of EcoOnline's business model, risks and market trends, aligned with GRI standards.

For the past 3 years, we have based our ESG objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Established in 2015 and universally recognised as a roadmap for sustainable development, the SDGs provide us with a comprehensive framework which is applicable throughout the territories where our customers and employees are based.

The following SDGs most closely align with our core values, business operations and potential for impact:

SDG #3

Good Health & Well-being

Target 3.9:

“By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals”

How EcoOnline contributes:

Through our advanced software solutions, we facilitated 1,009,504 customer chemical risk assessments in 2024 – an impressive increase from 959,819 in the previous year. This continued growth underscores our mission to reduce deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and pollution, making global workplaces safer and healthier.

SDG #5

Gender Equality

Target 5.5:

“Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making”

How EcoOnline contributes:

The number of women in leadership positions across our extended management group decreased from 40% in 2023 to 31% in 2024, which we are actively addressing. We are investing in several initiatives in 2025 to contribute to the development of female leadership skills and prioritising diverse talent recruitment.

SDG #8

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Target 8.8:

“Protect labor rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers”

How EcoOnline contributes:

EcoOnline's reporting system has played a crucial role in helping businesses conduct, track and manage over one million risk assessments. However, incident reporting more than doubled, to 5,616,855, which is a key driver of safer workplaces.

Through the effective tracking and management of incidents, organisations can implement corrective actions, improve safety protocols, and create a safer working environment for their employees.

SDG #13

Climate Action

Target 13.3:

“Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning”

How EcoOnline contributes:

We support climate action and a focus on emission reduction through a multi-channel approach which drives action and understanding through webinars, ESG events, workshops and our unique thought leadership platform The Situation Room.

SDG #16

Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Target 16.5:

“Substantially reduce corruption and bribery in all their forms”

How EcoOnline contributes:

Our commitment to achieve zero cybersecurity breaches, convictions or fines for bribery and corruption reinforces our dedication to ethical business practices

For 2024 we continued to achieve zero allegations, convictions or fines for violation of anti-bribery and corruption regulations.
