Chapter 3:
Who must comply with the EU CSRD
There are several companies who must comply with the EU CSRD; around 42,500, as previously mentioned.
Wondering if your organisation is one of them?
companies
We’ve listed out the criteria which needs to be fulfilled for companies who have headquarters in the EU, which fall within the CSRD scope below:
Large companies which are publicly listed as well as parent companies of large groups who have £50 million or more in net turnover, £25 million or more on their balance sheets, and over 500 employees, must report for the financial year 2024-2025.
Large organisations/groups and parent organisations of a large group who fulfill two of these three specifications: £50 million net turnover, a total balance sheet of £25 million, or a minimum of 250 employees during the year, will have to submit their disclosures by the financial year 2025-2026.
Companies which are not as large, are within the CSRD scope if they fulfill two of the three criteria listed:
● They exceed a net turnover of €900,000
● They exceed a balance sheet of € 450,000
● They have more than 10 employees
These companies will have to disclose their report by the financial year 2026-2027.
Even organisations who do not have headquarters in the EU but have a branch in the region, are subject to CSRD regulations if the branch is publicly listed on the EU-regulated market, makes more than €40 million net turnover annually, or the organisation that manages this branch makes more than €150 million in the EU over two consecutive years.
The scope of reporting for smaller organisations will be revealed in 2029.
